Programs Enrolled
During my time at UCLA I have been a part of some amazing programs that have helped me navigate college and career planning. Below are three programs I am currently in.

Academic Advancement Program (AAP)
AAP is a multiracial program, represents the best of what United States society aspires to: access, equity, opportunity, and excellence. The program is specifically designed to aid low-income, first-generation, and minority students succeed in a college setting. They offer a variety of resources including peer learning (tutoring) and counseling. I have enrolled in AAP's tutoring almost every quarter and it has helped me make a community of study-buddied, but also helped me be much more successful in STEM classes. Students who qualify for the program are automatically enrolled upon accepting their offer.

Program for Excellence in Education and Research in the Sciences (PEERS)
PEERS is committed to promoting academic excellence and professional development for students dedicated to careers in the life or physical sciences or mathematics. The primary objective of the program is to increase the number of students who develop a strong foundation in the sciences and make teaching and/or research a part of their life’s work. Along with extra support in the classroom, PEERS also provides counselors that are only for PEERS students. This made it much easier to receive academic counseling and ensured I was on track with my coursework. I applied for the program the summer before I began classes at UCLA and has been a wonderful resource! Applications to the program are sent via email are on an invitation basis.

Maximizing Access to Researching Careers (MARC)
The MARC program is a two-year, NIH-funded, undergraduate honors program that seeks to increase the number of biomedical scientists from diverse backgrounds that significantly impact health-related research. The program specifically seeks to strengthen the skills and research training of students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. The MARC Program offers research training, financial support, mentoring, networking opportunities and academic preparation for strong and motivated students. I applied to the program during the winter quarter of my second-year. Each year MARC accepts new 8 students, with a total of 16 student cohort of third-years and fourth-years. The application can be found on myUCLA at the end of fall quarter for students that fulfill the requirements of the program that can be found on the website. I am so excited to be a part of this program and develop more career planning!
